Summer’s dew is sweat
chilling inside midnight breeze.
Keep comforters close.

A misty sepia
sky, hue between blood and flesh,
soaks us with sunset.

Summer is Eilish
crooning spooky whatevs right
on my old town grave.

Invitations to Readers:

A worthwhile Labor Day weekend to Wheat & Tares readers! The comment section below is open for anyone who’d like to add an original summer-themed haiku. Let’s usher the season on its way.

Haiku 3 was written after reading Amanda Petrusich’s wonderful piece in The New Yorker: The Loneliest Generation Embraces Billie Eilish. Great piece of multi-generational commentary.
