Halloween, originally known as All Hallows Eve, seems to have eclipsed All Saints Day (Nov 1) in importance. (What’s All Saints Day anyway?) Here are some questions for you about Halloween.

Some Christians think Halloween is too Satanic to celebrate, but apparently Mormons don’t have that problem. Martin Luther was born on October 31, so Lutheran churches often have a “Marty Party” on Halloween.

Btw “Samhain ” is pronounced “sow win”.
I couldn’t answer the last 2 with the options offered.
We let our son Trick or Treat through high school. I don’t think they went to all that many houses since people weren’t very welcoming but the Halloween they had as kids was so “managed” I thought they were entitled to that night of running “wild” in the costumes of their own design.
I think they mostly hung out with their friends in their costumes.
I regret that adults have taken over Halloween either with their own elaborate costumes or by micromanaging the elementary kiddies.
When I was a kid Halloween was total Charley Brown stuff with adults relegated to the voices off screen. I think today’s kids are being robbed of an important experience.
I don’t know if Halloween is too commercial. I’m delighted that I can go out and buy some candy, pumpkins and a decoration or two. I think it’s too sanitized.
Oh no, Halloween is becoming so commercialized everyone is forgetting the true meaning. It commemorates the first time the Christ Child went trick or treating.
as long as we can get rid of trunk or treats I’d be fine
I love the feeling of community that comes to a neighborhood as everyone is walking around trick-or-treating.
Halloween is becoming more of a thing in Britain. My husband spent his very young childhood (6months-6years) in New York, and loves it. He always prepares for trick or treaters, so he was quite disappointed we did get any this year.
It’s hard for me to judge, since I live in the Halloween Capital of the World (no, I’m not kidding), but for the most part, I think it’s both fun and not Satanic. Trunk or Treat, and/or the big ward or stake party, seem to have quietly died out in this area, as kids clamored to be allowed to trick-or-treat, parents rightly saw it as one more pointless way to be seen as weird, and the US cultural panic wave about the evils of the holiday calmed down a little.
Also, while we all toed the line on silly church rules, the prohibition on masks and anything remotely resembling a weapon was too ridiculous for many of us to take when you asked us privately.
