Mostly I listen to BBC radio 4, as broadcast. I have a personal radio. Many of the programmes I enjoy are also available as podcasts, so if there is something I missed and really didn’t want to miss, I can download it. I have more downloaded than I’ve found time to listen to though. And the radio drama isn’t podcast.
I listened to them a lot when I was traveling a lot, but now that I am pretty planted in my house, I don’t as much. The majority of listening comes at night, it helps put me to sleep……zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I listen to a lot of classic BYU talks. It’s aural sominex. sometimes they are interesting….
Classic BYU talks have the exact same effect on me. For every interesting talk, there are lots of aural sominex, in fact I count on it to put me to sleep on my commuter train. One time I awoke to hear President Benson thundering that one cannot be a good Mormon and Socialist at the same time. I chuckled and drifted back off to sleep.
I like short podcasts like Freakonomics (5-25 min), but I also like John Dehlin and Don Wotherspoon’s podcasts when I’m working in the yard.
I like ’em short and to the point. Too many podcasts become the caster’s opportunity to ramble pointlessly.
For a long time, I didn’t listen to them because I read blogs a lot and couldn’t find the time. But then I hit on the obvious point that I’m often doing mindless work like mowing my lawn or editing pictures, and I can easily listen while I do such things. Now I listen to lots of Mormon-themed podcasts. Particularly fMh. I always enjoy them.
Freakonomics is so well done. I have a hard time, generally, with Mormon podcasts because they are so ramble and take 4x as long to say something. I’ve liked a few Dehlin and Wotherspoon as well. I ted to turn off the ones that are taking forever quite early cuz ain’t nobody got time for that!
I have hearing loss and can’t understand a d*mn thing.
