There have been many changes to LDS missions in the last year: ages for both men and women being lowered, a surge in the number of missionaries serving, the numbers of women increasing to nearly 50% of the total pool, and now the announcement that missionaries will begin to use social media in chapels as a replacement for door-to-door tracting where appropriate. These changes were announced in a widely attended meeting last week. What do you think of all these changes?

You seem to have forgotten more pressure on members to show up for assignments for ward janitorial services.
Shoot! It didn’t let me vote! (Failure to Verify Referrer)
I see missionaries trolling ward member family blogs. Most of which are hardly updated.
interesting that the vote counts have changed around since this survey was first posted but increasing baptisms and reactivations has remained at the bottom consistently.
The sad thing is that the “new” methods will have little effect.
Does anyone think that folks will flock to our boring buildings for tours?
Does anyone think that missionaries spending time online will result in significant converts?
We are calling lots of missionaries but we have no real strategy to put them to work productively. I personally think converting missions to a true service effort, focused on boosting the local community, would do far more to improve the image of the Church than any of our past — or proposed — efforts.
In this Canadian mission a missionary goes home early every transfer and has been like that for over a year. i can count over 30 missionaries who went home early because they couldn’t hack it and some for “medical reasons” which apparentlt no on knew anything about a month ago. So a huge surge of missionaries bailing. Baptisms are WAY down, they had one in May. They have picked up a tiny bit since. Even the missionaries are complaining that the Mission Pres. is forced to cram missionaries into wards thereby making their areas the size of postage stamps. The question is where are we going to put them all? So I hope this is just a temporary period of adjustment but we will see.
Having more community events and having missionaries actually HELPING out the communities will do much more than annoying them at their doors and now pestering them online also…
