It looks like we’re down to two candidates–but wait! Is there a third? Mitt Romney may endorse Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, because Mitt has said #NeverTrump. Johnson describes himself at Fiscally Conservative, Socially Liberal. Does Mitt’s possible endorsement influence your decision on whom to vote for? Gary is currently polling at 12%. If he can get up to 15%, he will be included in the presidential debates. Let’s look at some poll questions.

Hillary is the only candidate with a chance of becoming president, and IMHO she’s far and away the most qualified and best choice. Donald Trump is an incompetent nutcase. The shot’s not on the board for any other candidate(s) beyond Hillary and Trump. The two leaders (especially Hillary) have too much political machinery in place. It’s too late to overcome it.
I skipped #1. “Immaterial” would have been a welcome choice.
It’s going to be a long four months. 😛
@Frank
The history books will record this as the Twilight Zone election. I feel like I’m in an alternate universe or maybe watching a bad sitcom on TV.
It’s hard to take someone seriously when they discount Donald so quickly. I can’t stand the guy, but he’s far from incompetent and has proven that he’s someone who should be taken seriously. Just because his policy statements are incoherent doesn’t mean he doesn’t know what he’s doing…
My guess is November polling 50-50% with a 3% error.
We are having an election in Australia. Neither of the candidates character has been impuned, they are just 2 good men who have a different vision of how to run the country.
I wonder why things have become so extreme in American politics? My take is that the larger the gap between the rich and the poor, the less cohesive, and more extreme politics become, so I will be voting for a party that is trying to address this.
I understand that 50 years ago in America the ratio between the average worker and average CEO was about 30 times, it is now 330. the figure in Australia is 93, and in the better Scandinavian countries 40.
@Kevin
Well his track record at governing is non-existent. Running a business isn’t governing. If he’s competent at running a business, I expect he’d be happy to show off his tax returns. To the contrary, he’s evasive about his returns and he has a long trail of failed business ventures behind him. Add to that his crazy rhetoric, and it’s pretty clear that nobody should take Trump seriously, other than for his entertainment value. As to whether anybody takes me seriously on account of my opinions about Trump, well, that’s their problem, not mine.
I know Hillary doesn’t have the election sewn up, but who do you guys think would be a good running mate? Prompted by a CNN article that popped up today. I am clueless. Hadn’t thought that far ahead.

In re VP, this from the article is a good point:
“As Clinton has repeatedly said in interviews, her top consideration is someone who would be able to step into the presidency should anything happen to her.”
I think it’s interesting that Gary Johnson is “fiscally conservative and socially liberal.” It seems that Mitt is sending a message that fiscal conservativism is more important than if a candidate is socially liberal. In other words, gay marriage and abortion can be tolerated if taxes stay low. I don’t think social conservatives will agree with that, but that seems to be where Mitt stands. And coming as a republican from Massachusetts, that stance makes a lot of sense given his history.
