How is a protestant faith crisis different than an LDS faith crisis? David Boice details how his faith crisis led him to start attending other churches, and he came up with a book and YouTube channel by the same name: 52 Churches in 52 Weeks. He’ll give more details. For those of you who have had a faith crisis, did it lead you to attend MORE church?
What’s is like to visit a MegaChurch, a Heavy Metal Church, and a Mormon Church? David Boice is the author & host of 52 Churches in 52 Weeks and gives us his impressions. (He wasn’t super impressed with the MegaChurch.) He was surprised at how popular his videos on Restoration Churches were. Why do you think they were popular?
What would a Protestant think of Strangite, Bickertonite, and Community of Christ Churches? David Boice is host of 52 Churches in 52 Weeks and shares his thoughts. He also discusses presenting to Restorationists at the John Whitmer Historical Association in Texas. He really came into this trying to research the different churches as little as possible, so he wouldn’t have any biases.
Of course he didn’t attend only restoration churches. I was surprised to find him attending churches that preached about Barbie, Mario Brothers, and of course Star Wars. Should the LDS Church embrace such pop culture references to increase attendance?
David has a new appreciation for other churches and their rituals. He even discussed attending a snake-handling church (he stayed away for the snakes!)
What have been your experiences attending other churches? Do all faith crises lead to lack of faith, or has yours led to increased faith?

I feel increased meaning, conviction and faith.
I’ve really enjoyed visiting other churches and seeing what worship, faith, belief, etc. mean from others perspectives and how that factors into feeling part of a community or feeling comfortable during services. For us, belief and belonging and worship are almost synonymous, but belief feels like a goal rather than a requirement for some of the faiths I’ve looked into. For whatever reason, I loved visiting a Presbyterian church in particular. It was the first time since my faith crisis I didn’t feel that everyone else at church saw me as broken.
I agree with lws329 but I’ve also seen that it can also be a cult of personality. It works with this pastor but not that one. Sadly, there’s so much egotism in religion it’s hard to find a faith that doesn’t have the same problems as any other faith with leadership.
