donut, fry,
hors d’oeuvre,
all for me guilt-free,
a cup refilled, refreshed
by the follow-through after
the promise, reassuring winks,
a parent smiling, a sibling’s arm
around the slumping shoulder, a
shared umbrella, a shoulder rub,
the gestures left said: “travel
safe” and “peace be with
you,” a tomb gifted,
not billed

A Happy Easter to each of you, readers! Here are my previous shape poems for the season:
A wonderful poem that points to the true meaning of Easter. Far too many people these days see Easter only as an opportunity for drunkenness, gluttony, and video games. Oh that these people would set aside that attitude and adopt the reverence and piety of this poem.
