A few years ago, I attended the Thanksgiving Parade in New York with my wife, engaged brother, and his fiance. It’s the only time I remember eating at a restaurant instead of at home. What are your most memorable Thanksgiving experiences? What are you thankful for?
Thanksgiving Memories

I’m thankful that after today people will quit posting what they’re thankful for on Facebook!
Last year was a memorable Thanksgiving. We were on a temple trip in Cebu, Philippines and had a “traditional” Thanksgiving dinner in a German restaurant. There was turkey, but many other things were not the norm. The absolute worst dish was “candied potatoes”. These were not sweet potatoes. It was basically fried potato slices slathered in pancake syrup with pieces of hard candies sprinkled over the top. It was revolting.
This year we’re in Hanoi, Vietnam. Reservations for another “traditional” feast this evening, so we’ll see how it goes! We love an adventure.
Great Thanksgiving. Good food, family, friends. Only downside is my mother in the hospital after a surgery and couldn’t be here. We’re going to see her in a few minutes. She’s doing great, though, and will be much better without her hip pain in a few short weeks.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
Our family has a tradition of writing Thanksgiving poems and then sharing them. This is the first year I just haven’t been able to do it. Too much stress, pain and anxiety to put anything together. Instead I ended up thinking about several posts over on By Common Consent that have helped me think about gratitude, thankfulness, and my relationship with God and others.
Since everything else in my life seems to be turned on its head, there isn’t that much of a surprise that it would be the years that tradition doesn’t matter as much.
