I have to admit that when I saw the name of the new apostle, the first thing that popped into my mind was the 2nd most famous of all Clarks; Griswold (the first being Kent). I then got to thinking on what Clark Griswold would be like as an Apostle.
So I came up with a list of things we could look forward to with Elder Clark W. Griswold:
- Be in charge of Christmas lighting for Temple Square after the Temple dedication. It appears that one of Griswold’s relatives is already in charge, but I think Clark could step it up a notch.
- Related to number one above, be in charge of Temple Lighting in all the “dark sky” cities where a new temple is being built.
- Be in charge of Temple Steeple heights for all new construction. (see buying a large tree for his house with no concern for the limitations of his home)
- Assigned to the fleet purchase of new cars each year for the Q15 (Eternal Family Truckster )
- Assigned to plan all travel for the Q15
- Assigned to help the other Q15 members buy Christmas gifts for their wives (ironing boards for everybody!)
- Tripping on his way to the podium at General Conference, then jumping up and saying “I’m OK!”
- Giving Conference talks that will be on the prohibited list for Elders Quorum lesson topics.
- Finally, being in charge of Church Security and giving the bodyguards of Pres Oaks BB guns (it could lodge under the skin and cause a bad infection!)
What things would you look forward with Elder Griswold being in the Q12? Could it be any worse that Gilbert?

Okay, so I have no clue who Griswold is.. I was anticipating a post on Grindelwald it turns out, which says something about my feelings on the appointment perhaps..
I condemn the above comments that attack Clark Griswold. I point out that there is no recorded instance in any of the movies of him wearing crocs. Not one. Nor is there a time when he consumed even a single Irish nacho. Or listened to a single Dua Lipa song.
Perhaps the attacks are based on the fact that he was the ultimate family man in a way that is not popular today. His family was truly his top priority. Every vacation he ever had was spent with his family. Because that is how he wanted to spend it.
Ironically, he had the background of one who Jesus would have chosen to be an apostle. He did not have a net worth equal to one and a half times of that of the entire population of Bangladesh. His income was fairly average, and he only had a single beat up car.
Griswold also knew what it was like to live amongst those who honored Christmas. Indeed, he honored it with exceptional love. Indeed, no one outdid him.
