It’s Thanksgiving Day in the USA. (Canadians celebrated Thanksgiving a month ago.) Most of us are spending time with family & friends today. Share with us what you’re thankful for? The blog? Turkey? What else?
Tell us your favorite Thanksgiving memories and traditions?

I will be working a full shift today. As a hospital employee, housekeeping specifically, some holiday duty is a given every year. And from those first two years of holidays away from family as a young missionary, I learned that there is plenty of sweet in the bittersweetness of working and being away from family on holidays. I feel good about taking my turn and am certainly grateful for the work (and holiday premium pay). Also, I am blessed to work at a hospital that offered each employee a free full-size turkey, so I’ll cook that up in a few days and revel in days and days of leftovers.
Happy Thanksgiving, Mormon Heretic, and Happy Holidays to the Wheat & Tares bloggers and readers!
I am thankful for our trails and park system. As a resident of southern Utah, we have one of the most amazing interconnected trail systems. The trail system connects St. George, Washington, Santa Clara, and Ivins. I’m blown away by how nice the public parks and the restrooms are. I am so thankful that my community has chosen to invest in recreational spaces that truly make this a great place to live. I am even more excited and thankful about the planned Utah Trail Network. I feel closest to the divine when I am out in nature, and some of the most inspiring, peaceful, and holy moments of my life have been when I am just out on a run listening to the sounds of nature, and reflecting on my own mortality. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I won’t be fighting crowds today at Black Friday shopping, I’ll be out on the trails!
