Do you feel a personal affiliation with your assigned tribe (if you have one)?

I an struggling more to figure out, “do I care / is this important at all to me?”
A stake patriarch recently spoke in our ward. He said the assignments were solely figurative based on the person’s mission in the hereafter (I think). He mentioned twins who were in two different tribes. He did say that many patriarchs had been repeatedly corrected for believing that it was based on actual lineage. Since I’m not in the patriarch meetings, I just have what he said was being taught to them from higher up.
OW!!! This new yellow on orange format hurts my eyes! And it’s very hard for old eyes to read as well.
Yes, we all agree. We’re trying to fix the colors.
Orange is the new black, y’all.
There’s a Jewish male convert in my ward who happens to be a Levite and it’s in his patriarchal blessing and it is his genalogical line as well.
While “assignation” can be used in this instance (in place of the more common “assignment”), its more common meaning is problematic. I’m just sayin 😉
While the orange and yellow on the side bars is super bright (maybe a little too bright) I’m digging the muted colors in the comment section. 🙂
BethSmash,
we’re having some technical difficulties that I’m trying to fix. Pastures should be greener…soon.
Mine says i was chosen to come through this lineage but if I didn’t know what tribe I came through it wouldn’t have made a lick of difference in my life, knowing what tribe I am from doesn’t mean anything to me. I don’t know what I am supposed to get from this knowledge. I know a guy in another ward who comes from a different tribe than me and I don’t think his life or callings in life are any different than mine, I don’t see what the practical value is in this tribes business
The only person I know personally with a different tribe was a friend in HS who was pure Hispanic background…..
so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
If you look closely at the picture in the OP, you’ll see Joseph’s branches running over the wall (Gen. 49:22).
My wife’s blessing says she comes from two tribes. Kind of weird.
I’m actually of Levitic descent through my mother, so I was a tad disappointed when my blessing placed me in Ephraim.
