Just one year ago we launched Wheat & Tares. We strive to create a space to have interesting discussions with interesting people without being too directive, either with bloggers or with commenters. To all our bloggers, we thank you for your time to put together a framework for an interesting discussion.
For all those who’ve joined us here, thank you for your contributions!
How do you think the year has gone? Are you new to the site or did you follow some of our blogging team when we were at Mormon Matters? Are there any posts or bloggers you’ve really enjoyed? Are there topics you’d like to see more? Discuss.

Happy anniversary! I’ve followed y’all since you were at Mormon Matters, and I’ve enjoyed you just as much here as I did there. Sorry I rarely comment; I typically read only every few days so I only see most discussions after they’re over.
Happy anniversary/birthday to us!
From a perspective of one of the authors, I think this year has been one of a lot of improvement. We’ve really learned how to work better with one another, and I think that in the last month or so, we’ve really made a lot of improvements.
Congrats. Your b-day present is in the mail. OK, not really, but you asked what topics interested us, and that book covers one I’d like to hear more about.
Congratulations W&T.
😉
This is a lot better than Mormon Matters, and the best Mormon blog for the following reasons:
The best authors; with Hawk and Mike leading the pack;
For the most part, except when people like Dan & Will get on a tirade, W&T allows the conversation to flow without interruption;
The relatively lassie faire attitude leads to more pure discussions;
Good work, best Mormon blog by a mile…
Congratulations from a “charter lurker” who’s enjoyed W&T from the beginning. 🙂
Happy Birthday. I’m thankful for the chance to hang out with a bunch of interesting writers and insightful commenters. I’ve learned a lot from the things people have said here.
So, thank you to everyone for dropping by.
I appreciate the website very much. As a non-believer but one with active LDS family members in my extended family, the church does not leave me alone. I like to read LDS websites to soften my approach. W&T lets me do that without making me feel unwelcome, as infrequent as my participation may be. I don’t like websites where everything is for or against the church. W&T is a really good melting pot for differing points of view.
As an aside, I would like to know how to contact W&T about a possible post. I received a “you need to change your ways” letter from my uber-active LDS brother-in-law that I think would make for good discussion fodder if the powers that be agree. Don’t know how to submit it. I would like to hear input from other active members before I respond to him.
brian, great idea. i’ll talk with the authors and see if we can come up with a process.
I haven’t figured out why you guys are the best, but so far, you are. I haven’t been with you for all that long so I cannot speak for the whole year, but IMO you have certainly struck a great balance.
Oh, here’s one reason: you printed my singles letter! Stephen took that up from another blog. I am very grateful. Thank you guys.
Here’s another: I like not only the writers for their posts, but for their comments. There appears to be less pretentiousness among the writers here than on the other blogs I’ve followed.
Thank you, and Happy Birthday! 🙂
We love what we do! 😀
re 9,
Brian,
I would definitely like to see such a post. Please check your email when you get a chance.
re 11
Glass Ceiling,
P.S., I wanted to apologize for being such a jerk in the comments of my last post.
Yes, as soon as we learned to pretend to be unpretentious, we had it made. 😀
I’ve been enjoying your blog as well. You guys do a good job, and I think you’re getting noticed.
One year since the feeling like a good friend that you thought would always be there picked up and moved away. That’s life. I still drift back and forth around the blogs looking for that element that MMs captured.
Congrats to those involved in W&Ts. My comments have become rarer but I still glance at the posts regularly. My wife is happier now that I don’t spend as much time at the computer composing replies! Memorable posts during the year that stick in my mind: New Temple John, RLDS Fundamentalism, Changing Women’s Garments,and how could I forget…The Land of Make Belief and Alma 32. Cheers Andrew.
Happy Anniversary! I really enjoy the variety of posts, and the variety of perspectives. Thanks all for sharing! 😀
Andrew,
No worries. A week before you gave me a great compliment. (Although,I am finding I am a better commenter than writer of blogs.) 🙂
And I completely took us of topic. But it was irresistible. I have a great interest in trying to figure out why Europe works and we don’t.
Happy Anniversary, kids!
